Production process: Green sand casting process

Weight range: from 0.5 kilograms to 500 kilograms

Heat Treatment Process: isothermal quenching (isothermal hardening) (salt bath treatment)

Machining process: CNC machine, machining center, lathe, mill machine, drill machine, etc.

Surface treatment process: Paint coating, electrophoretic paint coating, electrogalvanizing coating, black oxide coating, phosphate treatment, powder coating, etc.


Product Material and Uses

Normally production with ductile iron, and then do the isothermal quenching treatment

The ADI casting products are widely used for wear resistant industry parts.


Austempered Ductile Iron Castings Properties

ADI is a group of materials whose mechanical properties can be varied over a wide range by a suitable choice of heat treatment. A high austempering temperature, 750F (400°C), produces ADI with high ductility, a yield strength in the range of 500 MPa with good fatigue and impact strength. These grades of ADI also respond well to a surface strain transformation which greatly increases their bending fatigue strength. A lower transformation temperature, 500F (260°C), results in ADI with very high yield strength (1400 MPa (200 MPa)), high hardness, excellent wear resistance and contact fatigue strength. This high strength ADI has lower fatigue strength as-austempered but it can be greatly improved with the proper rolling or grinding process. Thus, through relatively simple control of the austempering conditions, ADI can be given a range of properties unequaled by any other material. Small amounts of alloying elements such as nickel, copper and molybdenum are used to produce the desired heat treated result.


Properties

Austempered Ductile Iron [ADI] provides a range of high strength irons with higher ductility and toughness. Through the work hardening characteristics of the matrix these irons have an exceptional blend of wear properties and toughness. These irons have the advantage that the base iron is readily machinable before heat treatment allowing hard wearing close tolerance and mating parts to be produced.

Twice the tensile strength of Ductile Iron. Work Hardens.


Wear

Wear resistance superior to Steel at any hardness level.

Ideal for high abrasion applications.


Weight

10% lighter than Steel.


Cost

Energy savings over Steel.

Easier to machine than Steel reduced machining allowances.

Near net shaped castings means even less machining.
